Iāve used a homemade ham logo for a while now. I think I designed it back in 2014 when I started this blog. Initially it was only there to serve as a favicon for my new blog, but over time it seeped into other places and I started using it on other social media channels and projects I was building. I once went nuts and ordered a pack with hundreds of die-cut vinyl stickers with that āhamā logo and started handing those out at in-person meetups and sticking them on the walls of dodgy dive bars. Super high-quality stuff. I donāt know if people even wanted to have those stickers I was handing out, but it sure was a fun conversation starter. And wow, there are still so many of them left that Iām sure that Iāll get to bug people for a long time to come.
A bunch of ham stickers.
I chose this cartoonish āham on a boneā logo as a tongue-in-cheek reference to my chosen nickname. My name, āHamā, doesnāt have anything to do with that piece of meat, but its a fun double entendre to play with.
Over the years Iāve grown a little tired of that āham on a boneā logo and was looking for something thatās a little less grim than a dead piece of meat. I came across the fantastic Hey Hey Momo, an artist drawing refreshingly cute and positive comics about Momo (a dog) and his friend Forg (a frog). They were offering commissioned avatars over on Mastodon and I reached out and asked them if they could create a little pig avatar for me. They came back with two fantastic drawings, once a plain old piggie, and then a pig enjoying a cold one.
Heyheymomoās piggie illustrations.
I fell in love with both illustrations on the spot. Theyāve got so much more character, positivity, and āØ good vibes āØ than the old logo.
Itās been a few months since I got these illustrations made and I havenāt found the time to use them on this website until today. Iāve just replaced the āhamā logo in the top navigation and this siteās favicon with these lovely piggies.
Itās not like any of this matters, itās just a silly avatar on some random dudeās personal website after all. But itās alovely change on a lovely Sunday and Iām just so happy with what Heyheymomo came up with that I wanted to share this with all of you.
Have a great day out there, folks!
